Being a predominantly black-and-white photographer, what are you going to do when you have an option to travel to a place that begs color images? Apart from being tempted to just disregard the obvious drive, you might just stick to some good old slow filmstocks, or... forget it... shout "all-in" and invest your money in a roll of Ektachrome. One camera, one lens, one roll of Kodak. Challenge accepted.

Now, Ektachrome is a slide film, so it likes to be exposed properly. Having never used it, I looked for the ultimate tutorial on what to do in certain situations - I found most of the tests and reviews were nothing short of intimidating sometimes. You need to be careful, precise with your light measurement, conscious about what you do, etc. Let me just say - forget internet wisdom, just take a deep breath, put the film in your capable camera and just enjoy the process. Because Ektachrome is with you, not against you. Yes, you do need a proper camera. Yes, you do need to be aware of the exposure settings. Yes, you will enjoy it.

The result is just amazing, I have never seen such accurate and lively color rendition, tones are perfectly accurate, the dynamic range is spectacular. All in all, I am happy to have taken the plunge and trust this film stock. Pricey? Yep, just as paying for a wonderful holiday. But it's worth every penny.
