Book concept, art direction and design for Corteo, one of Cirque du Soleil’s most beloved shows. Corteo is a joyous Italian funeral procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown who envisions his own funeral. Instead of mourning his imminent death, the show is a celebration of life, and a soul-stirring celebration in the here and hereafter.
The book concept, artistic direction and design all center around exaggeration, repetition and scale in order to convey the essence and wonder of the show. Corteo is a show that makes you look up and marvel. The intention of the book was to convey the same celebratory sense of awe on each spread, through a purposeful artistic direction and thoughtful copywriting, taking the reader on a print-version journey of the show.
