Bacteria Typography

This concept arrived from trying to understand the behaviour and growth of bacteria, and despite their scale - their activity reminds me of much of the human race.

The alphabet consists of letters created from laser cut wood, which were then used as a stencil from a sponge that was cut. I swabbed a total of 26 different surfaces in order to understand the different types of bacteria and analyse their growth rate, shape and colour. 

The series of spreads was to portray the development of this process with typography and photography. All which were captured using a macro lens. I collaborated image with type to tell its story with sub relating topics and a pharmaceutical theme.
