“Me-Monsters” is a project about self-discovery. I have tried to discover my true self underneath my egocentric persona. This required taking off the layers of outworn ideas of my identity and delving deeper. I dissected my ego and came up with a ridiculous, obnoxious, funny-looking monster for each part. The first step to bringing each monster to life was to create large marionette sculptures. After that came three series of paintings.
Painting the “Me Series” allowed for exploring the behavior of each "Me-Monster."
