While I like seeing these subjects in their natural settings, I appreciate them differently on a plain white background. This way there are no distractions from the subjects, and my eye stays on them, wandering over them, seeing their structure and details in a beautiful sculptural way. I've noticed this helps some people get past their default feeling that "bugs are icky", once they can see the form, textures and mechanics of these wonderful creatures.
