Monoprint Project - The Color of Music

The title of this piece is The Color of Music. It includes a saxophone on the left with a music staff on the right. My cause and effect was that the saxophone is played and makes sound which causes music. I wanted to portray that the saxophone just makes sound, but if you hear it right, it makes music. This could also apply to the sounds of a city, rain, etc, but I thought the clearest portrayal of it would be to use an instrument. I used a variety of colors to show that the sound is just black and dull, but the music it creates is colorful and vibrant. I really emphasized the music itself by using rainbow colors behind it in contrast with the black surrounding it because music can really brighten someone’s mood. I also contrasted the lines throughout the piece in that the sound coming from the saxophone is supposed to be just sound with straight lines that turn into a flowing and more curvy music staff on the right.
