The title of my piece is “Landers Flowers.” The subject matter is of my great grandma Landers with roses. She owns a flower shop that’s called Landers Flowers which is why I added the roses in front of her, and the scalloped border around the piece is taken from the edge of the roof around the flower shop. I wanted to directly incorporate some aspects of her shop into the piece so I did that through adding that edge. I obviously used a lot of line to portray her face and hair and worked to make a build up of line to show different values in her face, jacket, and hair. I think the piece is also really balanced in the heavy lines happening all throughout my grandma in contrast with the blank background and simple border. My creative suite is unified because I used the same pink and red watercolors tints behind the flowers with a contrast in background colors.
