The title of my linoleum print is “Ellie” because I have a collection of stuffed elephants and that was the name I gave to basically all of them when I was a little kid. I knew I had to do an elephant for my spirit animal because I’ve had that collection of them for so long, but I wanted to make the subject matter a little more interesting by adding the enhancements and marks across its body. I used a lot of shape and pattern throughout the body to give the elephant more detail, and I also tried to give its head some emphasis by leaving the majority of it negative space. I think it also has a lot of rhythm and movement across the top of its back and down its legs.
