Redesign and new conceptualization of the public space in front of the Museum Centrale Monte Martini in Rome is a part of a group project that concerns urban revitalization of a wider area, roman district called Ostiense.
After the close examination of the area that included sight observing, interviewing of people of the area and series of urban diagrams that helped realizing the actual state of the place and potentials for its latter development. Bike path came as a logical solution for connecting and holding together this segregated area full of different users (students, workers, old people and children) and interesting contents that had never been able to work together in order to provide more pleasant and attractive space.
Ostiense master plan project includes: reconstruction and redesign of the busy street Ostiense that received the role of the spine holding together all the other areas around that needed to bi activated; connection to the metro station by inserting a patch of green land / public park and bike elevator that could connect the bikers with other parts of the city; student area placed on the side of Ostiense street as a meeting point and study oasis; via Libeta - club and bar district located in devastated objects behind the university area that needed became alive even during the daily hours; riverside that lead to very popular area in development that included old industrial facility with an old gasometer as an urban rapper visible from different city areas.
Finally, the part of the project that helped connect Ostiense street and newly activating river side area was the already mentioned square in front of Monte Martini museum, also concerns my individual part of work and it will be further explained by the following.
