iPad Interactive Book - Enchanted Island Of Yew

INTRODUCTION

I've always loved reading adventure & fantasy books and the same goes for coding, whether it's an online shop, facebook application, ios or android app. The idea of blending together two things I love came in summer 2012. The first step was picking a perfect story for interactive book which proved to be quite difficult since I could only use free, public domain books. I read a few dozen until I found a perfect match - just the right mixture of adventures, myths, amazing characters and quite a few scenes where interaction would simple amaze the reader. I wanted to bring the book back to life by giving it an enticing interactive user experience surpassing the so called interactive books on the market that usually don't even deserve the adjective "interactive".

Next step was finding a person capable of illustrating and designing whole book from scratch. I was very fortunate to stumble upon one very talented artist, Mojca Dolinar. The time and effort she put into this and all other projects is just amazing...see for yourself: http://www.mojcadolinar.com/

We worked on the book for a good part of the year tailoring it to needs of the target group the storybook is intended for: children and their parents. They have as well been the most important part of the developing and testing process.
The book encourages development of reading skills, logical thinking and caters to the fact children seem to adopt latest technology and consume content served via tablets naturally. I'm a strong believer in the very special bond between children and their parents that evolves via the experience of reading and solving the mysteries together. Just like we did with our parents when they were reading bedtime stories to us, only now with an exciting interactive touch pushing the imagination even further. Kids swipe through the pages enriched with numerous interesting challenges building on elements of gamification leading them to win tokens and a final reward at the end.

Enchanted Island Of Yew was also Top Grossing App in 12 EU countries and the rest of the world.
