Interactive Educational eBook
Challenger Deep : Mariana Trench
For this assignment, we are required produce an educational eBook on our chosen topic. The main purpose of this assignment is to test our creativity level on how to digitally illustrate the topic to the readers into an interactive eBook. Any designs and concept used needs to be relevant to the topic chosen. Furthermore, this assignment gave us the chance to improve our creativity as well as knowledge on how to capture reader’s attention (i.e. adding interactions and animations) by doing a lot of book browsing and research. Also, by providing interactivity to content creates an experience beyond the printed format in which it will enhance the book-like experience that enables readers to interact with the content and storyline via sight, sound, and touch on their touchscreen devices
Synopsis
Mariana Trench is the deepest trench in the world. Some people might not know about the trench and some might think that the term “deep” is “just deep” but little do they know, the trench is deeper than Mount Everest inverted to the sea. With the aid of the video in the eBook, it will give readers the correct idea on deep is the trench. Not to forget that there are bizarre creatures found deep in the trench, so I have included a quiz to name the fishes on the last page of the eBook to give a fun learning experience to the readers. This eBook is suitable for everyone!
Theme and concept
In the e-book, I have inserted a deep ocean sound clip which will be played once the eBook is loaded. This is to give a deep ocean vibe to the reader as the topic is about the deepest trench in the world. The main concept of the eBook is to educate and attracts readers using fun colors because colors attracts both young age readers and the adult readers. I have inserted pictures in each page accompanied with texts to further elaborate the pictures inserted. The theme that I went for is simplistic-but-fun to look at type of design. As this topic is based on real environment I decided to make it a little bit sophisticated with a pinch of colorful illustration to met the theme chosen.
