ATHOS: COACH PORTAL

Description:  ATHOS is a startup that creates smart garments that detect your muscle strength through EMG sensors.  This data is shown to a user as they work out and allows them to get insight into how and which muscles they are working out.

Challenge:  I was brought in as the only UX Designer and Researcher within the startup, and was asked to help improve the UX across multiple platforms.  I first began with the mobile app because that was the main focus for the company initially.  However, the direction switched and we started to concentrate on professional athletes.

This meant that I began to work on the design and UX of a coach portal on the web that allowed coaches to manage their athletes, facilities and data.  My role was to specifically design the flow for a few different scenarios.

1.  One coach that is a part of multiple facilities
2.  Many coaches that are within one facility
3.  An athlete that is a part of multiple facilities and has multiple coaches

I had to think of an interface and flows to allow a coach to:

1.  Manage, create, transfer, delete their athletes and teams
2.  Add,delete,invite a coach
3.  Allows athletes to switch facilities to export their workouts to the correct coach

Process:  I began the process by first assessing and analyzing the current coach portal.  There was a lot of content that needed to be audited and prioritized.  Many flows were overlapping and creating a difficult user experience.  I created several site maps to assist the product manager in visualizing the current state of our coach portal.
I then created a proposed coach portal site map to display how the layout will be based on the teams decisions and collaboration.  I also added a proposed coach portal site map with future suggestions to keep in mind to further improve the UX of the portal.
I then created mockups for the various flows.  The first flow shows how a coach will register to ATHOS as a coach.  The second flow shows how a coach can create a team with his registered athletes, the third flow represents how a coach can invite another coach to his facility and also how a coach can transfer an athlete to another coach that is within the same facility or another.
For the athlete who is a part of multiple facilities, I presented two different ways the athlete can export their workout to a particular facility.  Our team decided upon and implemented option A into the current app.  This presents the athlete with a simple way to get their data to their desired coaches.
