Before we promote products to consumers, we need to promote them to store buyers. Publishing is a crowded market with limited shelf space, so it's important to stand out as much as possible--especially when the company releases over 400 products per year.
The best way to achieve top of mind in this arena is through thoughtful design that not only achieves the needs of the sales force, but also marries the needs of the book distributor, the publisher, the authors, and each individual property, at the same time.
Three catalogs are produced concurrently per season (nine per year), each promoting a different product line.
My Role
Securing and editing content from Editorial and Marketing, creating milestones and deadlines to be followed company-wide, overseeing the design process, ensuring buy-off from all necessary parties, and managing the printing and delivery process.

Adult Catalog - front cover and table of contents. Features teen and adult manga (comic book) releases.
Adult Catalog - monthly section opener showcasing interior artwork from the title's seasonal release to illustrate the overall tone of the series.
Adult Catalog - product page for an "A-rated" title. To easily convey which titles buyers should focus on per season, each title was assigned a hierarchy: A titles received two-page spreads showcasing 4C art and a BW interior snapshot, B titles a single-page treatment featuring 4C key art, and C titles a 1/2-page with only cover art.

Haikasoru Catalog - table of contents and intro pages. Since this catalog features science-fiction novels, the overall design breaks the mold created from the manga catalogs. With no key art to utilize, this catalog focuses more on and re-emphasizes the Haikasoru brand.
