Jhamtse Gatsal is a community, a school, and a home for about 90 children of all ages. It is located on and isolated area in the district of Tawan in Arunachal Pradesh, India. All the children that live there come from nearby villages, all of them have a different backgrounds, stories and reasons for being there. Jhamtse Gatsal means “garden of love and compassion.” and the aim of the community is to provide every single one of these children with better lives and to help them achieve their fullest potential. The Costa Family Foundation is committed to Jhamtse Gatsal’s cause and a supporter of their mission.
It has taken us 2 days to drive from Guwahati (Assam) to Jhamtse Gatsal, which is isolated from the nearby villages, but also from hospitals, grocery stores etc. When we arrived there we saw how much dedication, hard work, sacrifice and love the collaborators have in helping all the children to have a better childhood we were very impressed and touched by the whole community and it has been a life-changing experience for me.
