The pavilion opens itself up to a square in Copenhagen, encouraging interaction among the many people in the city, while exhibiting the growing bicycle culture. Concrete steps rise from the ground creating urban street furniture with views to the surrounding city, while exhibiting bicycle culture through exhibitions along the structural backbone of the pavilion. The enclosed glass space below grows out of the concrete to create a bicycle rental shop and repair center, while the shape opens itself up to the square to encourage interaction and revitalize a part of the city that has become neglected.
The thick backbone of the pavilion provides bicycle storage within the concrete form. Interior walls provide bicycle exhibition space, while the smaller spaces provides shelving and storage for bicycle repairs.
