Reflection
In this project, I created a book that explains the printing process. Then I found examples and hand bound the book.
Originally I wanted to put a gradient for the background, but I learned real quick that graphic designers do not really like that. So I took the gradient away. At first, I had it in landscape format, but that changed when I saw the diagrams that I included. So in the end I changed it to portrait. It turned out quite well.
To create this book, I set up bleed lines in Adobe InDesign. That way the words in my book would not get cut off. After that, I picked out the font type and size for headers and the paragraphs. I used Garamond Pro for the paragraph and Arial Rounded MT  Bold. The text size for Headers is 18 and the text size for Paragraphs is 12. Smaller headings in between are 14. As for the diagrams, I created them in Adobe Illustrator. Some parts I just used line and added color to them and others I used the paint brush. Then I would copy and paste the diagrams into Adobe InDesign. After I was done with the book, I printed it off at OfficeMax. However, once it was printed, I had to cut off the extra. I did not really trust my cutting so I had OfficeMax do it. When I went to put holes on the left side, I used a hole punch. I decided to put my samples in my book before I hand bound it. To do this I used rubber cement glue. At the end, I threaded a needle and bound my book. I looped through each hole in the book three times and went to the next. When I got to the end, I just tied a knot and cut off the extra.
I learned how to hand bind a book in this project. Guess what, sewing is good for something. Now I can hand bind my own books whenever I want.
