Printing Process 101
Reflection:
For this project I made a multi-page bound document in InDesign that served as a handbook for illustrating knowledge of the printing process.
Since this is a printing process handbook I wanted the look of a handmade book. I thought by using a brush stroke typeface it would add an edgy handmade look. I also liked a black on yellow look.
To add to the brush strokes I placed ink splatters to emphasize the handmade effect. I also placed orange geometric shapes behind the text to make the text stand out more. After designing the pages, I had the book printed and then I bound it by hand. The last thing I did was added all the samples to the handbook.
Before doing this project I had no idea how many different choices of paper, varnish and even ways of printing text and graphics. This was also the first book I have ever hand bound and it was definitely harder than I thought.
