The ABA recently formed a new College Due Process Rights and Victim Protections task force to help outline the best policies and procedures to use in sexual misconduct probes on college campuses. Made up of a team of prosecutors, defense lawyers, victims' rights groups, educators, and other professionals, the task force policies will be aimed at making sure victims and alleged perpetrators receive due process.
Colleges face growing challenges in addressing sexual misconduct allegations. The new College Due Process Rights and Victim Protections task force will develop a comprehensive list of policy recommendations and present them to the ABA House of Delegates and its Criminal Justice Section Council. These groups will then lobby colleges and universities nationwide to adopt the policies.
