The project Curto Circuito – Conexões Imprevistas (Short Circuit – Unforeseen Connections, in Brazilian Portuguese) gathered fourteen contemporary art groups in order to establish dialogs between their productions and their ways of operating. Each week, two of them shared the space of an art gallery, where they daily worked together. The processes and the results of their work could be followed by the visitors, in some kind of artistic residence, open studio and art exhibition.
To express the concepts suggested by the project dynamics and its own name, we have searched visual schemes that usually represents electric circuits. We have also collected images related to the ideas of disturbance, explosion, risk and unexpected contacts. All of this graphic lexicon inspired the visual identity design and led us to the choice of imprecise printing techniques, such as rubber stamp, stenciling and, specially, the risograph.
