In Gods Of Men, ambientato nel 2045, la Terra e il suo destino non appartiene più ai suoi abitanti, né i suoi leader. Una volta grande supereroe 'The Sentinel' controlla la terra da oltre un decennio e altera il corso del destino delle nazioni e dei governi come e quando vuole.

Si tratta di un titolo con le sue radici nel modo in cui molti scrittori di fumetti hanno preso il concetto di supereroe dal "potere assoluto"  da Watchmen e Miracleman e Michael, recentemente tornato alla gioia della lettura di fumetti, non fa mistero delle sue influenze.
"Quando penso ad un argomento che volevo scrivere ho preso ispirazione dalle storie che mi hanno eccitato di più", dice Michael, un digital marketer di mestiere, ma che scrive racconti e più nel tempo libero così come l'imminente novella Infinity Chronicles.

"Watchmen, il lavoro a fumetto base della leggenda Alan Moore, è stata probabilmente la più grande influenza", continua, "e mi chiesi, 'Qual è stato al di là di Watchmen?', così come cosa succedesse se un supereroe avesse continuato a governare le sorti dell'umanità come parte di un piano più grande - sarebbe stato visto come salvatore o demone? "

"Sono molto interessato alle raffigurazioni più grintose, più realistiche e talvolta oscure degl'eroi rispetto a qualsiasi altro tipo", aggiunge Michael, fan di lunga data di 2000AD  "e mentre a volte è criticato per essere stato in voga per molti anni, io credo che ci siano storie uniche in quello stile che sono ancora da raccontare. "

Come parte della preparazione per il lancio è stato prodotto un teaser , che è possibile scaricare dal sito di Michael completamente gratis. Per lo più in bianco e nero, ma con alcuni esempi del prodotto finale colorato da Stefano Valentini a cui è destinato, introduce il mondo ed il protagonista 'The Sentinel' in tutta la sua terribile gloria.

In Gods Of Men, set in 2045, the Earth and its destiny no longer belongs to its inhabitants nor its leaders. The once great superhero ‘The Sentinel’ has ruled the Earth for over a decade and alters the course of fate for nations and governments as and when he chooses.

It’s a title with its roots in the way many comic writers have taken the whole superhero “ultimate power” theme since Watchmen and Miracleman and Michael, recently returned to the joy of comic reading, makes no secret of his influences.

“When thinking of a subject I wanted to write about I looked to inspiration from the stories that have excited me the most,” says Michael, a digital marketer by trade but who writes short stories and more in his personal time as well as upcoming novella Infinity Chronicles. 

“Watchmen, the seminal work of comic legend Alan Moore, was probably the biggest influence,” he continues, “and I wondered, ‘What was beyond Watchmen?’ as in, what if a superhero had continued to rule the fates of humanity as part of a greater plan – would he be seen as saviour or demon? “

“I’m also very interested in grittier, more realistic and sometimes darker depictions of ‘heroes’ of any kind,” adds this longtime 2000AD fan, “and whilst it’s sometimes criticised for having been en vogue for many years I still think there are unique stories in that style that are still to be told.”

As part of preparation for the launch a teaser has been produced, which is completely free to download from Michael’s site. Mostly in black and white but with some examples of the intended coloured end product done by Stefano Valentini, it introduces the world and central character ‘The Sentinel’ in all his terrible glory.
