Watercolor Paintings

Project Overview
Duration: 2 months  |  Project Type: Individual Hobby
Watercolor painting is one of my most enjoyable and satisfying hobbies. These paintings were created over a summer break when I was in high school. These are copies of paintings that adorned a beautiful calendar depicting scenes from rural India.

My Role
Artist
Tools:
Watercolor Paper, HB Pencil and Watercolors

My Process
Inspiration  |  Outline Drawing  |  Painting
When I see a beautiful painting or a photo that catches my attention, I always snap a quick picture of it with the intension of making a copy of the beautiful image to adorn the wall of my house. Although very few of the inspiring pictures that I collect actually get converted into my version of it in watercolor, the very process of collecting them is itself a very pleasurable experience. I use a HB grade pencil to sketch out outlines of the elements in my painting on which I then paint with watercolors.
What's Next
I recently started exploring art with acrylic paints. I found that the medium was very forgiving and easy to work with in that any errors could be corrected by simply waiting for the paint to dry and painting over it, in contrast to watercolors. Besides, painting on canvas gives an earthy texture to paintings which I have come to love. My goal is to always have a painting in progress, to be worked on at leisure and to complete at least one painting a month. They make great gifts!

Conclusion
I've found the time that I spend painting, a great time to be alone with my thoughts while creating something that I love. It has given me great peace of mind on several occasions and has taught me patience and perseverance.
