Vikings go Berzerk is the latest slot from Yggdrasil Gaming. I served as Art Director and Vfx Supervisor on the project, and since I directed Vikings go Wild, this one fell in my lap once again. My main goal was to upgrade everything we did in VGW, so we started with some concept art of our 4 Vikings and the new threat they will face.
In Vikings go Wild, the vikings faced off against The Kraken. We explored many options, and eventually settled on Sirens! In the base game, they look like beautiful mermaids, but in the Free Spin mode, they transform into deadly Sirens!
The symbol set was similar to that of Vikings go Wild, 4 Vikings and 4 coins. In addition to that we had a Free Spin symbol and two Treasure chest symbols. In general, I'm not a fan of 3D slot games, since it's really hard to make good looking 3D games, within the time frames we work on each game. But since the game featured complex animation, 3D was the way to go.
Instead of going through the individual animations & vfx, we can just skip to the actual game.
The game features Rage Meters, at the bottom of the screen. If you win on a Viking Symbol, that particular Viking collects rage. When the meters are fully loaded, the viking will turn Berzerk!
I love working on promotional material for our games, and when it came to Vikings, I had this idea in mind, of a Viking about to turn Berzerk! I worked with our concept artists and one of our Illustrators and we turned in one of our coolest posters yet! Props goes to our talented crew!
