Big Canvas Depiction of Pharmaceutical Services

Big Canvas Depiction of Pharmaceutical Services
Lonza, 2016

„A Big Picture about a company’s services and operations requires that every employee develops a much better understanding about how the company operates, the structure how everything is interconnected and the overall goals. The employee now has more information available and understands the mechanics of the company better than before as they might have been used to in their specific work environment.

The Lonza AG – headquartered in Basel – a while ago asked us to visualize their „Gene to Patient process. During the project we realized, that the potential of detailed visualization, allows for a much clearer picture to streamline and possibly question and redesign old processes and structures. Building a transparent and clear structure, with a lean and efficient hierarchy, enables a clear and focused company strategy across all departments. Wording, group structure, positioning of larger elements – all the way down to individual elements as part of the overall context – have been major criteria in the development process of the information architecture design.

The result is the development of a system, unprecedented with the level of detail for Lonza. During a iterative process, various icons were created and further developed until the final stage of the design was reached. We are very proud, that a whole graphic designed by Superdot – for the first time since we were founded – has been patented by one of our clients. Lonza introduced the large scale graphic to the public during the pharmaceutical tradeshow CPHI in Barcelona.

After the success in Barcelona, the design was adapted for a fair in San Francisco.
