The Lonely Space Sloth
This brief required me to create a one minute or longer animation that communicates the following as its starting point, “Once upon a time” and ends“A sad story don’t you think?”. I created a very playful and unique animation. I stepped outside my comfort zone and created something out of the ordinary. I had a lot of fun creating this animation and had no limits to what I was capable of designing. My main focus for this brief was to learn the After Effects program and bring my illustrations to life. The story of this animation is based on a lonely space sloth. He travels through space to find new planets and life. He is unsuccessful in finding a companion for himself. One day while he was catching fish in the Milky Way he comes across a message in a bottle. This message reads as following, “hi, any lonely handsome sloth looking for some company? You’re welcome to join me on planet Jelly xxx”.
The space sloth was over-joyed and goes on his quest to find this female sloth that will keep him company. He travels far and through dangerous black holes that can change your appearance. Finally he reaches the female space sloth. As he lands his spaceship onto the Jelly planet the jelly starts to shake and deform. The weight of the spaceship is too heavy and therefore pushes the female sloth into space. She tries to grab hold of the spaceship but fails. She is then shot towards a black hole where she is then turned into a giant eyeball. The male space sloth is once again, left all alone in space.
