Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva's profile

Project ECHO’s Epilepsy across the Lifespan Program

An experienced pediatrician, Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva served as primary investigator on a grant studying the implementation of Project ECHO methodologies in pediatrics. Project ECHO uses technological advances, such as video conferencing, to connect service providers in rural and underserved areas to advanced training. Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva also was involved in an initiative to improve access to care for children and young adults with epilepsy. The Project ECHO Epilepsy across the Lifespan program represents the intersection of these two pursuits.

The fourth most common neurological condition, epilepsy occurs most often in children younger than 10 or adults older than 55. Because the condition demands complex treatment, community physicians often have difficulty offering the best care possible. Since early diagnosis and proper treatment can improve outcomes, it is vital that community physicians have access to training. Project ECHO has operated the Epilepsy TeleECHO clinic since 2015. This clinic offers didactics, educational resources, and case-based presentations to community clinicians treating epilepsy.

The clinic has created an environment of group learning that creates a large knowledge network and practice community from which clinicians can draw to improve outcomes of patients with epilepsy.
