Artist Trading Cards: Grayscale
Portable, tradeable, miniature works of art
I first learned about artist trading cards from a visit to the bookstore Ex Libris, which served the needs of the students attending the Savannah College of Art and Design. I didn't start using them until our local arts and crafts supply store began stocking them. My first ATCs were done on oatmeal cards, and featured ink drawings of one of my personal mascots, Leta the Sea Dragon.

Some of my art cards are done in ink, with shading done in gray Prismacolor markers. I like to use gray markers in shading when I'm working on art cards outside of the studio, such as when I'm traveling or doing demos, when I normally would not have the time nor workspace to use gouache paint.

I enjoy using art cards because they provide an easy means of sharing handmade artwork, especially since they can be traded, stored, and displayed like collectible trading cards.
