Conceptual description:

Our team’s topic is “Perspective”, which means “the way to observe the world”. From common sense, we all know that human or animals always seeing things only on their own way. Therefore, our perspective always cannot get rid of our position and dimension.

For instance, we pass through the street everyday without awareness of the view of environment and people around. The scenery we see in daily life is too unchangeable and boring to look with delight. Our design aims to provide people a perspective to see things differently, let them to observe their daily life in a whole view and notice other people’s existence and how they changes your view to see things.
We want people:
1. To see the everyday environment from another perspective
- Provide a focus
-Curiosity to know the environment
-New understanding of their daily and environment
2. Connected to people’s activity
-Notice people around
-Connect with other people

Our Proposal:
PEEP is an interactive systems of tunnels located underground around MTR station, shopping malls and buildings. It aimed to provide different perspectives for people, let them to see more possibilities from ordinary daily life. And let them to open their eyes for people around, thus connecting people and help build an interesting connection.

Interactive aspects

PEEP give people various and interactive perspectives to open their eyes to the environment and people around. When two people walk in two parallel tunnels, they cannot see each other usually. PEEP makes people to be aware of others’ existence.
Scenario 1
When two people encounter in same position of different tunnel, the wall for another one could open up and let people see each other. The structure of tunnels also makes people to see upside and downside to get people from various space encountered.
Scenario 2
when two people walk in different tunnels with same relative position and speed, there will always be an open area in the wall that letting then see part of each other.

- Interactive diagram
Sensing/actuation
The IR sensor on different tunnels will be trigger for the interaction between people. When people pass by IR sensor on another person, the signal will be detected and active both walls to smoothly open. The open area is a curve shaped rather than a rectangle.
And the arduino with different kinds of servos will help fulfill the interaction performance.
