Bathurst Hospital
Celebrating the Inspirational People who Set the Foundations for Decades of Positive Health Care in Bathurst

When the NSW government announce $74 million to redevelop a regional hospital, it can be daunting knowing where to begin. However, all that I needed to know was that Bathurst Hospital wanted to preserve the building’s rich history, whilst remaining contemporary through a series of well-told graphical wall stories. Drawing upon my previous work and hours of research for Artarmon Home HQ, I quickly identified the key audience and tone for the stories I knew needed to be told.

Honouring the past does more than keep it relevant for future generations, it shows just what can be achieved with very little resources and a lot of hard work. The pioneering achievements and persistence shown by these local heroes serve to inspire modern-day patients and guests of the Bathurst Hospital. Phil Cortis, Project Director at Health Infrastructure put it simply, “the panels look great and they filled a project need. The graphical character was excellent and appropriate”.

Too often in large development projects, we forget to celebrate the story of the past and share the journey of the future. It was an absolute pleasure working with Bathurst Hospital and having the opportunity to learn more about and share the inspirational stories of a few of our founding forebears.
