The Psychology of Modern Design and Historical Storytelling to Boost Patient Spirits
Everyone and everything has a story to tell, so celebrating the rich history of the Manilla District Hospital was a great way to engage and distract waiting room patients. Tired of the outdated and intimidating environment in which patients and guests awaited their appointments, hospital directors made the decision to design a series of glass wall graphics that shared the inspirational heritage of the beautiful building.
However, the glass panels became more than a practical way to separate busy nursing staff from the waiting room, they were a symbol of progress and modernisation. We need our hospitals to be places of innovation and cleanliness in order to feel safe and protected when we’re not at our best. Through this small and seemingly insignificant design addition, the Manilla District Hospital managed to not only freshen up their physical environment but boost the confidence of all who walk through their doors.
