At the end of the semester course called "Art & Business" at Sotheby's Institute of Art my sister (with two classmates) was making a final project, which was a concept of Saint Petersburg Biennale of Young Russian Art 'Art Effect'.

The idea was to show emerging artists, who were suggested to think about how past, present and future are linked, how certain events influence (or effect) the general picture of the world. Young artists planned to be exhibited are new generation, but at the same time were born and grew up in USSR. That's why it could be said that they represent past and future of the country they live in, being some kind of a go-between local and global culture. The young artists still keep the memory of the old system, but at the same time they live in a completely different world, trying to integrate into worldwide contemporary art context. Such a wide and universal theme as time gives artists as much freedom as possible, but also an opportunity to think about something deep and serious.
There are three exhibition spaces at the biennale, each dedicated to a period of time —'past', 'present', 'future' respectively.

My little sister asked me to make a logo for the event. We've spent two days making logo and a leaflet.

Firstly a bit about the process:

This is the logo. It is always black and white, but with variety of possible modificationsfor different types of print and mood. The last triangular of the logo (the one with gradient) can be stretched horizontally to the nearest line of cut or to the corner of the wall as a metaphor of the endlessness of the future.
The format of the leaflet is 210x100 mm. On the front page there is the work by Sergei Locmanov, who was used as an example of young Russian artists who works with a concept if time. On the back there is information about the place where the event takes place - a map showing five former factories on Obvidnij Canal.
