Glassblowing
introductory course at Glen Echo Glassworks
In spring 2012, I completed Glassblowing I and II at Glen Echo Glassworks (Glen Echo Park, Maryland). The following pieces are a selection of the work I produced. The body of work was dictated by an interest in creating organic, unusual, and irregular shapes: in other words, I embraced the topsy-turvy aesthetic that naturally arises from being a novice.
A balloon deflating (Glassblowing I).
A whiskey shot glass (Glassblowing I).
A bowl with a flared lip (Glassblowing I).
A terrarium (Glassblowing I).
A colored bell jar (Glassblowing I).
A colored bowl made using a sunken technique (Glassblowing II).
A colored vase; swirl design made with an optic (Glassblowing II).
