User Interface: Photo Album 5, Jasc Software

User Interface: Photo Album 5,
Designs for an updated user interface for a popular digital photo organizer.
Designs aimed at raising the standard of product interface for Jasc products. Previous interface design aesthetic was at a minimal and functional level, implemented by programming staff. With the push to compete with Adobe software products, new types of interface designs were called for.
This design for Paint Shop Photo Album 5 was meant to be clean, modern and similar to Adobe's iTunes. The brushed aluminum surface was to suggest a stand-alone device for organizing and editing digital photographs.
Another version of a mutli-functional GUI for a photo editing & organizing program.
Programming staff determined that there were too many problems in developing an interface that appeared to stand alone, outside of the standard Microsoft Windows environment- as well as the textured surfaces, so a second design round brought forth these designs which attempted to make a smooth but high-tech work area.
Further refinements of icons, tabs and menu areas. This design was closest to what was finally implemented.
A design most favored by programming staff- but ultimately not implemented.
