Contours (2016)
Contours is a jewellery piece designed to relieve the user’s stress. It features a head that offers tactfile feedback as the user rubs its surface thanks to its texture. The shape was generated from carving out of a cuttlefish bone. The internal structure of the bone has a very interesting texture that resembles contour lines, and a pewter cast was generated from the carved bone. However, the details were not entirely replicated, hence modern prototyping technologies such as CAD and 3D printing were utilised to replicate the shape and its minuscule details. A basic ring shank is also printed, and the two parts are stuck together for casting.
