THEA352 Introduction to Set Design
Instructor: Allan Stichbury
A revival of the 1920s English farce, the play requires many doors and a two-level building. The architecture consists of various curves, giving the interior a joyful yet strange appearance. The building originally was all black, thus named “Rookery Nook,” yet Gertrude tries to lighten it up with yellow. But of course, she overdoes it, and now everything’s too yellow. Oversized paintings hang on the walls, and the cherry plant designs on the doors are meant to imitate rococo decorations, yet done in a less crafty way.
