DaWanda: DIY with love

Europe's largest online marketplace for handmade products launched a new do-it-yourself portal in 2015. There you could find creatives, from experts to beginners, covering all elements around the theme of handmade including current trends, new techniques and inspiring instructions.

I was the lead UX Designer on the project, responsible for the UI,
interaction design and information architecture.
F O C U S  G R O U P S
In the beginning of the project we organised some focus groups with existing DaWanda users. That helped us understand their behaviours, needs and expectations for a DIY portal.
D E F I N I N G  S C O P E
I facilitated a user story mapping session for the team in order to get an overview of the whole product scope and define our MVP.
P R O T O T Y P I N G
I started with mobile-first low fidelity wireframes and used early prototypes to test usability and technical feasibility of the main features.
Icons for seven different DIY categories: sewing, knitting, crocheting, recipes, jewellery making, home improvements and crafting.
