E-Ticket | Public transport 'validator' design concept

E-TICKET DESIGN CONCEPT
RESEARCH
Analysis of the existing situation in public transportation validator systems - testing and making a survey. Human-centered analysis of the product usability. Differentiation of the design problems.

SKETCHING

Primary sketches and first ideas based on the existing form of the existing working principle.
SECONDARY SKETCHES
RAPID IMPROVISING
Human-centered tests with LCD display to measure the most suitable height and identify the perfect angle for showing the information for children and grown-ups.
FROM SKETCH TO 3D RENDERING
The main goal is to visually reduce the volume of the object and make visual information clearily shown on the display as well as implify NFC card scanning process in the comfortable and easy way.
FROM 3D RENDERING TO DRAWINGS
FROM DRAWINGS TO 3D PROTOTYPE
As whole product doesn't fit on the "printing surface' the object is splitted in few parts to be 3D-printed separately.
Different parts are glued together. Creatively. With tension requiered.
Printing another model, checking dimentions, fitting required pats inside, designing holders and edges of stiffness. Best friend - MakerBot Replicator 2X.
ARTSY 3D PRINTER
Morning surprise. A bit of art from my friend MakerBot. Looks impressive. Not sure if it is impressionism, abstractionism or expressionism. Any ideas?
FIRST WORKING PROTOTYPE
First prototype to check usability, angle of viewing information, NFC scanning and tangibility of the form.
STYLISTIC CHANGE
Enhancing stylistics and characteristics of the product to look different and unusual as diamond and "iron wolf' (symbol of Vilnius) to fit the stylistics of Tramway Design for Vilnius.
"IRON WOLF" FOR VILNIUS / DIAMOND STYLISTIC
Integration of the product into its' natual surroundings.
IN SEARCH OF MORE FRIENDLY FORMS
+3 MORE
The new LCD display with improved angle visibility is chosen. The goal is to make a friendly product to be visually light, unnoticable and at the same time unique and modern.
FINAL LOOK AND VISUALISATION
Minimalistic appearance, thin look, clear visual information, friendly edges, smooth and elegant fastening to the public transport pipes.
