project title: STOP HOMOPHOBIA
client: PERSONAL PROJECT
Madrid, 2006. The congress had approved gay marriage by law. A series of protests were taking place in order to declare it unconstitutional. Most of the protests were in favor of preserving the family as an institution, mainly orchestrated by the catholic church and conservative parties.
As a result to these protests I came up with the idea of making a sticker that could be placed in places were these manifestations were taking place. A series of postcards with the STOP HOMOPHOPIA message were distributed among manifestants.
The image takes one icon that represents Jesus calvary (the crown of thorns) and puts it in a context in which it becomes a clear statement of the siege that the LGTB community was going through. A calvary in itself.
