Part of a pet project to make board games more accessible, 16 Rupee Chess is an inexpensive, frugal, DIY chess set.
It consists of two A3 sized printouts on card paper, (that can be downloaded for free as a PDF) which contain cut-outs of the board and the pieces. The board game can be easily distributed to children across the country,
especially in cash-strapped government schools.

Each piece consists of two parts that slide into one another, and form a coin slot.
A one-rupee (or similiarly sized) coin can then be inserted, to weigh down the piece, and hold the parts together.
16 Coin Chess can also be made more durable by laminating the sheets before cutting them.
