PACKAGING PROJECT// Goldfish Box

BRIEF
Reviving an old university graphic design brief, I decided to create a self-initiated concept which would address the original objective: to produce packaging to protect a fragile object.

My choice of ‘object’ was a live goldfish, such as those given away as prizes at travelling funfairs. Due to improper care and stress caused by the ride home, they often live short lives despite a potential lifespan of 10-15 years.

SOLUTION
My response was to create a sturdy box modelled loosely on a funfair stall, with string handles to aid transportation and an interlocking top opening. The material is a waterproof, recyclable substrate with an internal base incorporated into the design to stabilise the plastic water-filled bag during transit.
The colourful, themed graphics were designed to engage and educate parents and children alike, providing vital care tips and fun facts. Children are encouraged to name their new pet and to view the goldfish as a long term companion rather than a disposable plaything.
