Marks and Spencer's Confectionary Packaging Design
This brief required me to design the packaging for Marks & Spencer’s new confectionary range of sweet favourites called ‘The Connoisseur’s Chew’. From a selection of twelve sweets, I was to pick three and produce a separate design for each, based on the theme of Christmas stocking fillers and personalities.

I selected the Flying Saucers, Heart Throbs and Golf Balls as I believed them to be the most suitable for a stocking filler style gift as suggested in the brief. As these sweets were at the height of their popularity in the 70’s, I decided to target those aged between 35 and 55 who would have eaten these sweets during this time, when they were children. Aiming to evoke childhood memories and a sense of nostalgia, I drew inspiration from 70’s style and fashion, becoming heavily influenced by the brightly patterned wallpaper designs. Incorporating the shape of each sweet into its own repetitive pattern I attempted to create a design not only reminiscent of the 70’s but relative to Christmas wrapping paper and luxury in general, if tasteful enough. The colours used throughout the packaging are symbolic of the sweets whilst the two-toned silver band unites the set.
