Penguin Trio's: Jule's Verne Collection
Penguin Book Cover Design
This brief required me to redesign a set of three books from a selection of ten sets as part of a new Penguin sub-brand called Penguin Trio’s. Although the books could still be bought separately they had to be designed with the set in mind and therefore a distinct link should exist.

I decided to redesign the Jules Verne set with the intention of bringing old literature to a younger audience. I believed a modern, clean style that contrasted the original covers, as well as many others books in the same genre, was necessary. I wanted to focus on the sense of exploration, with small clues to the mode of transport in each book, and the characters isolation in their uncharted environments. The shape relation between the objects on each cover was key to creating this visual puzzle and eye-catching quality. It also posed as a device to wrap the whole book jacket and tie it together. The typeface, and its surrounding space, was integral in modernising the covers and creating the clean finish I envisioned.
