Video mapping for MT "Ten to One" event (2015)

The video above shows the content I created for the "Ten to One" Maire Tecnimont event held in Milano in October 2015. The 8 minutes long video was produced by Clonwerk, where I worked for about a month with two other internal content creators. The video was projected on one of the two Garibaldi towers.

I worked on two sequences: the tunnel and the pipe puzzle.

For the tunnel I wanted to avoid having to animate camera movements, so I created and duplicated a single looping module of differently shaped pieces and I had it slide along the tunnel walls towards the fixed camera in order to achieve the illusion of movement: the whole group is then deformed by a bend deformer.
This is shown in the first .gif below.

For the pipe puzzle sequence the hardest work was done on the puzzle setup, since the result had to look kind of like a 3D sliding tile puzzle. Since the time I had available wasn't enough for me to animate a proper sliding puzzle with 150 pieces, I split the puzzle in 3 layers so that all pieces would move inside their own layer, with the only exception of the 4 main pieces that actually travel through the layers (highlighted in red in the second .gif below).
