Posters of Line and Color

Posters of Line and Color
Color is essential to the visual world, and it is a constant influence in our culture today. The way it is used is also crucial, as it can make or break something—it can give something significant meaning, or take it away. This idea truly hit home while I was working on this project.

The goal was to visually represent six different words using six different color schemes. The catch? There had to be an ongoing design theme that somehow tied all six designs together, and no color scheme could be used more than once.

My ongoing theme was inspired from the Fillmore posters of the 1960s, particularly those of Victor Moscoso. These designs often incorporated interesting color combinations to create designs that were abstract, bright, and rather psychedelic. I created the same type of psychedelic feel as the Fillmore posters, all while using only lines and type in my design.

These designs were all printed out on 30" x 30" glossy sheets, laminated, and hung up for display, as shown above.
