12:00 - Exhibition of unique eco models of Tijana and Mila Popovic created in cooperation with instructors and users of Working Center for persons with disabilites
The Exhibition which is symbolicly titled 12:00 presenting the retrospective of work of the designer’s duo Tijana and Mila Popovic, created in cooperation with instructors and users of the Working Center for people with disabilities in Novi Sad.
12 models - unique models with a lot of hand work, embroidery, art and graphic intervetions on models made of environmental, ecological and recycled materials, after London, Brighton and Belgrade, audience in Novi Sad had the opportunity to see in gallery of Art Clinic from 7th until 11th December 2011 in Novi Sad.
The idea was to use the already used materials, for completely different purposes, whose permanent production effect the pollution and the recycling lasts for several hundred years, applying them in a sophisticated form, through models- dresses, and, thus, lessen the need for the permanent production of new materials.
The idea of the designers was to, via personal example as makers of the fashion industry, help preserve the human environment using organic materials and the already used raw materials, lessening the need for production and further onwork of synthetic materials, and as fashion designers influence the public to change the attitude towards fashion, where actual trend following is forced, and therefore the level of pollution is increased. Models made of organic and recycled materials can also be functional and wearable, moreover, authentical, useful for ourselves and our environment.
In the symbolic name of the exhibition we can sight a message that should warn us to a very problematic situation when the pollution and destrution of natural resources and social responsibility in the matter. The symbolism of the number 12 is maifold. It runs through the whole concept, from the number of the exhibits to the role of number 12 in history and art with the burning issues of contemporary society.
The symbiosis of this two very serious themes visualized and materialized through yhe artistic expression suggest urgency in solving problems and social responsibilites of each single person.
