Good Design/Eco-Design and Sustainable Development is the first publication in Serbian language that addresses the analysis of responsible design and the relationship between applied arts and ecology and protection of the environment. The content is divided into 8 chapters – 01 Design, 02 Graphic Design, 03 Fashion Design, 04 DIY-Beginnings/ Precursory Forms of Eco-Design , 05 Eco-Design, 06 Sustainable Development, 07 Current World Trends, and 08 Eco-Design in Serbia. Although each chapter represents a separate whole, it is linked to the others by the style, the content, the concept, and the order which the chapters follow. Through a presentation of the historical development of design and an analysis of the current situation in contemporary art, industry and society, the reader is given freedom to form his or her own opinion about the future of design, and to decide what is the appropriate direction in which responsible design has to go in order to influence positive tendencies and overall well-being. Today, in the context of the ironic contemporary imperative, the notion of design is represented as an unknown that attacks us from all sides, unexpectedly, very directly, and even aggressively, as is also the case with the term sustainable design.  The book points to the permanent support of modern society, through an apparently oxymoronic form, by playfully intertwining these two factors which, on the one hand, are extremely important for our generation, as well as for future generations, and, on the other hand, are, in terms of linguistics, the most boring and most commercialized terms of our time. The demystification of worn-out terms used every day without any sense in various contexts and combinations, very clear forms, analysis, and examples from everyday life reveal the real meaning of DESIGN and SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT to the reader.
More than 300 established designers, scientists, architects, engineers and artists contributed to this publication in the joint effort to present the idea of good design as the only possible solution for industry, marketing, and applied arts in modern society. Buckminster Fuller, Victor Papanek, Ross Lovegrove, Konstantin Grcic, Geatano Pesce, Stefan Sagmeister, Jamie Reid, Patrick Blanc, Patrick Nadeau, Azuma Makoto, HA Schult, David Colwell, Tim Noble and Sue Webster,  Jason Mecier, Yong Ho Ji, Edina Tokodi, Miroslav Krstonošić, Vladimir Lovric, Vesna Pejovic and Ingrid Huljev are only some of the authors whose work and considerable influence on modern art and design are presented in this book. They are the founders of the idea of intelligent design, as well as the promoters of the new tendencies in art and industry, and, as such, they have determined the way to cleverly connect the two notions into a perfect symbiosis – a symbiosis that some find has amorphous and free forms, and others find has spherical and geometrical forms, ideal and standardized according to the golden ratio rules – in one word, perfect. The result of this perfect and unbreakable alliance is GOOD DESIGN – design of the future, whose roots can be found in the distant past.
