Galentine's Day 2015
California Polytechnic State University
February 5, 2015
February isn't all about romantic relationships; It can be about long-lasting female friendships too!
Inspired by Parks and Recreation's Leslie Knope, Cal Poly's Galentine's Day is a day for ladies to celebrate ladies and empower each other.
My friend Trudy and I conceptualized Galentine's Day from start to finish and designed almost everything necessary for the event. Galentine's Day was split into two parts: a booth with card giveaways (designed by a pool of graphic designers), nail polish, music, and a photobooth. Here, we advertised for the second part of the event, Ladies Night, where we involved four on-campus resources who share our love for female empowerment and gender equality. We led discussions, conducted a raffle, and spread awareness about what we as women can do to to help each other up instead of knock each other down.
We had over 60 attendees for Ladies Night, and all girls said the event inspired them to be the Leslie Knope in whatever they do. That's all we could ever ask for!
