The concept for this layout was inspired by the article itself. The article talks about the creative relationship between Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and David Fincher. Reznor and Ross have worked together to score several award-winning soundtracks for Fincher. They work in tandem to create a rich musical landscape that enhances the overall experience of the viewer.
I wanted the layout to have a similar feeling. The photographs I used in the layout inspired both the color story and the type treatment on the title page. Like the photographs, the type treatment is darker and the textured shadow plays tricks on the eye. Using deep, richly colored pictures throughout the article and a bold title page, I was able to keep the rest of the layout clean and easy to read to provide overall balance.
