Sleeve made for my Apple Powerbook G4 in 2003

Prototype made in 2003 for my new Powerbook G4 by Apple
Way back in Fall of 2003 at the beginning of my final year at OCAD I purchased a brand new Apple Powerbook G4 to replace my emac. (It came with an ipod with a dial and greenish screen and black font which only worked sometimes when I touched the sensor wheel and was like a 256 memory. In summer 2004 I sold the ipod on ebay for like $300 and never bought another apple product). Anyways, there were no feminine laptop bags available in 2003 so I sewed this for my powerbook and planned to make an entire line for my 2004 thesis but was discouraged from doing so because there was no artistic concept but to fill a a consumer gap. Fortunately for me, although I did not mass produce these sleeves, I did identify my interest was in business and consumer products, a year later entering my second degree program in accounting a respectable degree for running a textile products company that unfortunately I haven't started but plan to at some point in my life.

This sleeve is a little over the top with hand dyed mohair yarn and ribbons but I had an entire book of ideas for other products. The green yarn was light pink then dyed with Jasmine Flowers and sewn onto the fabric with a sewing machine.

I used this sleeve up until the end of 2007 when my beloved powerbook crashed and unfortunately I just couldn't bring myself to buy the cheaply made plastic computer designed to replace that aluminum gem.

EDIT: It seems my idea was to make laptop bags covered in lingerie to make them sexy. Also not included, on the page after the laptop bag ideas I wrote a paragraph about how I was just too uninspired to continue with that idea, Quote "In allowing my intuition to guide my ideas I find a style resurfacing from the beginning of the year. The sleeve produced is cute although not what I intended. {other random ideas... }I keep picturing line drawings of a woman with crazy hair holding their hands out in a feild of wildflowers. The wind is blowing and the petals in her hands take off with the wind, or perhaps it was her breath which took them off into the air..." see bottom drawing november 2003.
