Block 44
Seattle, WA

In 2008, MCD was commissioned to create a comprehensive Environmental Graphics Master Plan (signage, wayfinding and identification) for an emerging urban campus in Seattle. To date, we have implemented the design for seven, multiple story buildings.

One of the latest projects, Block 44, includes signage and wayfinding for two six-story office buildings in Seattle’s booming South Lake Union neighborhood.

In addition to site graphics (pedestrian Directories) and interior signage, we developed a Then and Now theme to honor the rich history of the setting. Current and historical photos highlight contrasts: 100 years ago, a thriving sawmill milled wood to build Seattle’s bungalows. Today, three blocks away, commerce is handled with software.
Client: Vulcan, Inc. for a Fortune 100 company.
