Lincoln Square South
Guiding Guests to Luxury Shopping, Entertainment and Hospitality
Bellevue, WA

Located on Seattle’s affluent Eastside, The Bellevue Collection has long positioned itself as a premier center of shopping, entertainment, hospitality and commercial office space. Currently, over 23 million annual local, regional and international guests visit, eat, shop, stay, dine, live, work and play at the 51-acre, 5.6 mil sq. ft. upscale urban complex.

Lincoln Square South (LSQ/S) is the newest piece of The Bellevue Collection.
To greet, guide and inform the guests, shoppers and residents, Michael Courtney Design designed signage, graphics and wayfinding for the entire development.
The $1.2bil, 1.5 million-square-foot mixed-use project is five projects on one superblock. The challenge was to develop individual graphic expression for each project to highlight their different personalities, while developing a design language compatible with its neighbor, Lincoln Square North and the rest of the Bellevue Collection.

28-story residence, Two Lincoln Tower with 218 ultra-luxury apartments (floors 14-41), above the W Hotel completes the 41-story tower
3 floor retail podium with specialty retail and restaurants, a food hall with a collection of eight high-end, easy-access eateries, and a six screen movie theater

For continuity, the Directories in the Retail Podium match the information centers in the adjacent Lincoln Square retail areas.

Graphics in the public areas of the residence are designed using a distinctive typeface and material palette.
Parking signs use the graphic vocabulary MCD has designed for the entire Bellevue Collection.
Vivid colors and oversized graphics direct visitors in the parking garage.

The project gave our firm a chance to ‘stretch our legs’ with the graphics. One example is the signature landmark for the W Hotel entrance. Using the Hotel’s “Seattle music” theme, we designed an eight-foot-tall icon, covered with an estimated 10,000 guitar picks to move in any breeze.
